- Prepares engineering, technical or business reports and studies; performs analysis, testing and evaluations.
- Provides timely technical support and consultation, demonstrates effective project management and process efficiencies; reviews, develops and/or presents business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices.
- Lead initiatives in short- and long-range strategic planning
- Own and lead capital portfolio business case development and approvals
- Ability to independently make decisions in responding to emerging operational needs such as system contingencies, customer connections, major external projects etc.
- Accountable for the timely, technically accurate and cost-effective application of engineering practices.
- Compares alternatives based on cost/benefit considerations, customer needs, safety, statistical analysis and engineering principles, and recommends the optimum solution.
- Undertakes special investigation and studies, and prepares reports with recommendations.
- Prepares material and/or technical specifications and standards; reviews proposals from suppliers, contractors and consultants for technical merit and compliance; investigates and evaluates the application of new technologies.
- Participates in implementing corporate goals.
- Represents Toronto Hydro in external meetings and/or committees.
- Performs root cause analyses of failure data.
- Performs trend analyses of equipment data and determines appropriate actions to improve and optimize capital and operations programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- 4+ years of Engineering experience
- G class license preferred
- Fluent in the application of enterprise tools for planning and project estimation (i.e. GEAR, SAP, etc), general office software, CAD, AM/FM, engineering records, and specialized engineering application software.
- Masters in Electrical Engineering an asset
- Project Management experience with good knowledge of planning processes is an asset
- Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing and facilitating change demonstrated through self-motivation and Stakeholdering
- Internal and external Customer focused with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate relationship building
- Effective skills in project management operations, budgeting, business process and productivity improvements.
- Proven effective problem-solving and analytical ability.
- Ability to predict and understand technological trends and their effect on business or strategic work plans.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation and regulations.
