The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewNeurodevelopmental Services works in partnership with several community agencies to provide psychiatric assessments and consultation for children and adolescents with complex multi-diagnostic issues. This Occupational Therapist position works within an interdisciplinary team and provides range of interventions. The clients in the service will range in age from 5 – 19 years and have a primary presentation of Autism, Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, Anxiety, Intellectual disability and have a broad range of behavioral, emotional and mental health concerns that impact on their home, school and community environments. Services are delivered using a family centered approach in both a clinic and community-based setting. The Occupational Therapist will provide primarily family-focused treatment services to clients and their families in the Neurodevelopmental - Autism Service at MATC in a community-based setting.Job Duties:
  • Providing occupational therapy assessments and recommendations.
  • Establishing occupational therapy treatment plans.
  • Planning, facilitating, and providing follow-up within the group therapy program.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating client treatment plans.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience
  • Group therapy experience with children and adolescents is an asset.
Up to two years related experience preferred.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Occupational Therapy degree.
  • Training and demonstrated skill in several clinical modalities required.
  • Training in CBT and DBT desirable.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Eligible for registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba and eligible for membership in C.A.O.T. Staff not licensed/registered with a legislated professional body must be registered/certified with an appropriate Association.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of ecological systems theory, culturally competent practice, community-based mental health service delivery and the bio-psychosocial approach to mental health are desirable.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, and mental health issues in childhood and adolescence with an emphasis on Tourette’s, ADHD, ASD, Intellectual Disability and Anxiety.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must be familiar with current behavioural strategies and interventions.
