The Health & Safety Manager is the key leader in driving a safety culture at the Grand Forks Facility and knowledge expert for health and safety. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Health & Safety Manager will partner with managers and supervisors to create an environment of a ‘Safety First’ mindset by encouraging best health and safety practices, providing training, leading health and safety meetings, and performing root cause analysis and correction for health and safety issues.What you will be doing:
  • Ensure adherence to regulations on health and safety in the workplace as well as ensuring that the facility remains in full compliance with all provincial and federal regulations as well as ROCKWOOL Health & Safety standards.
  • Establish and implement a Health & Safety management system including implementation and conformance to Group standards and guidelines.
  • Active management of all work-related claims including modified work programs and return to work programme and planning.
  • Perform safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that plant operations remain in compliance with new laws and regulations through continuing education, networking, and newsletters issued by the industry or other relevant organizations.
  • Responsible for managing the Incident Investigation process in conjunction with plant Operations. Implement and follow up on all corrective and preventative measures.
  • Weekly reporting of Health and Safety Key Performance Figures (KPI’s).
  • Co-Chair the site Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Coordination with Group functions and ROCKWOOL North America peers.
  • Act as a ROCKWOOL ambassador demonstrating our core values of Ambition, Integrity, Responsibility and Efficiency.
What you bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in the Health and Safety field in a manufacturing setting
  • Robust understanding of Federal, Provincial, and local regulations associated with Health and Safety
  • Good organizational and analytical skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Demonstrated skills in effective communication and data accuracy and integrity
  • Stakeholder management for local community, neighbours, and organizations
