- Develops, documents, tests, and commissions production repairs and major projects related to facility control systems.
- Ensures all company standards relating to automation development and support are followed.
- Assists in the research, analysis, design, test, and implementation of core computing systems, including virtualization endpoint protection, network, backups, security, and databases for control systems.
- Assists with the analysis, configuration, testing, installation, upgrade and production support of core modules for software packages and in-house developed software.
- Analyzes new developments in control system hardware/software and provides recommendations to enhance the efficiency of facility operations.
- Prioritizes and diagnoses incidents encountered in the automation environments following agreed procedures. Investigates causes of incidents and seeks resolution and escalation as required.
- Initiates and monitors actions to investigate and resolve problems in automation systems, processes and services. Implements agreed remedies and preventative measures.
- Liaises with maintenance staff and contractors in the installation, commissioning and quality control of automation systems.
- Plans daily, weekly and monthly tasks to meet project schedules and estimated budgets.
- Supports proactive health, safety, environmental and security programs and communicates safety procedures to Country Operations staff, contractors and other site personnel.
- Provide on-call technical support, be able to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
- Minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience in an industrial environment with three (3) years’ experience in core computing infrastructure such as active directory, terminal Services, SQL server, virtualization and disaster recovery.
- HMI, PLC systems design and/or software development is an asset.
- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in both low and high-end automation development methods is required.
- Valid Class 5 vehicle operator’s license.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the agricultural industry will be considered an asset.
