Position Summary:Covenant Care welcomes all who share a calling to serve those most in need.The position of LPN Supervisor will incorporate our mission, vision, and values of Compassion, Collaboration, Respect, Social Justice, Integrity and Stewardship while upholding our ethical traditions as foundational aspects in all actions and decision-making.Reporting to the Resident Care Manager, the LPN Supervisor is responsible for supporting LPNs with day-to-day care delivery, including assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of ongoing care by motivating and empowering staff. As a member of the care team and in accordance with Covenant Care's Mission, Vision, and Values, the LPN Supervisor provides direct clinical care to assist/coach staff or fill in/cover vacant shifts when required, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple work demands. The successful incumbent will coordinate staff care assignments and guide all LPN staff and Health Care Aides to ensure resident care plans' safe and effective delivery. This leadership role requires coaching, mentoring and leadership skills, and one is expected to work to the full scope of knowledge. The LPN Supervisor will assist with site clinical committees and related work as required while ensuring services are consistent with Covenant Care’s person-centred service philosophy.This position ensures that our residents receive quality care and service according to our policies and procedures. To support residents, their families and visitors during the resident’s end-of-life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality.Qualifications:This position requires strong critical thinking skills to ensure care plans are individualized to meet our resident’s specific care needs and reassessed for ongoing updates as necessary. The ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of all resident, family and staff information is essential to delivering care.The position requires the ability to communicate in all forms (reading, writing, clear verbal articulation and active listening) to implement recommendations and develop plans and procedures in accordance with Covenant Care’s protocol and applicable legislation.This position also requires interpersonal skills and the ability to deal diplomatically and professionally with conflict. The ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing so others can easily interpret and understand fully is essential.Educational / Professional Requirements for the Position:
  • Completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nurses program required
  • Currently registered as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required
  • Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP) Core preferred
  • BLS (Level C) Health Care Provider certification required
  • Comfort and knowledge of computers are required (Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Effective verbal and written (English) communication and presentation skills required
  • Excellent assessment, planning, organizational and time management skills required
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as working within a team
  • Positive stress management skills
  • Dementia education an asset
  • Hospice experience required
