- Completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nurses program required
- Currently registered as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required
- Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP) Core preferred
- BLS (Level C) Health Care Provider certification required
- Comfort and knowledge of computers are required (Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Effective verbal and written (English) communication and presentation skills required
- Excellent assessment, planning, organizational and time management skills required
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as working within a team
- Positive stress management skills
- Dementia education an asset
- Hospice experience required
- Open, honest interpersonal relationship skills
- Tactful, positive reinforcement style
- Excellent communication; verbal and written
- Advocate of staff, residents and families
- Schedule should be flexible to meet the needs of the staff
- Self-motivated, self-directed
- Have a broad knowledge of nursing practice
