(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check)NoJob DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reporting to the Fire Safety Specialist, the Educator, Fire Safety and Prevention is responsible for the organization, implementation and documentation of the fire safety program for Island Health, utilizing a computer and Microsoft Office Suite applications and department-specific programs to create and complete related work documents. The Educator administers the fire safety education program, in-services, and conducts inspections in accordance with Workers Compensation Board (WCB) guidelines and British Columbia Fire Code standards for all sites and facilities within Island Health. The Educator provides support to the Fire Prevention Team and carries out projects relative to the operation of the fire safety program.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceGrade 12, Certification as a NFPA 1035 Public Educator and NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector and five years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
