- Act as the subject matter expert and coach and mentor junior members of the team.
- Establish financial review and monitor framework on large borrowers and provide subject matter expertise to internal & external clients.
- Perform complex financial analyses and manage the end-to-end credit review process, while providing guidance to internal clients on financial aspects, such as financial reviews, credit analysis, risk management policies and procedures.
- Work closely with external clients and counterparties, reviewing borrower financials submitted by lenders and preparing recommendations for credit committee approval.
- Ensure that the functional business unit is compliant with corporate policies and follows industry best practices.
- Ensure that appropriate systems are in place for effective and efficient credit risk analysis, monitoring and reporting.
- Develop and support the development of policies, methodologies, procedures, analytical modelling and risk management information systems.
- Develop and deliver seminars for various internal/external stakeholders.
- An undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in financial risk management, with demonstrated expertise in:
- Credit risk assessment and mitigation strategies
- Commercial Mortgage lending practices and Real estate market dynamics
- Underwriting standards and guidelines
- Loan structuring and portfolio analysis
- Collateral evaluation and risk exposure analysis
- A proven ability to independently assess complex credit scenarios, applying deep industry knowledge and sound judgment to support decision-making.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to think strategically and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
- A solid understanding of accounting principles and standards, including their application in financial risk contexts.
- Familiarity with credit risk management frameworks, policies, and methodologies used in regulated financial environments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages (English and French), with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences, including senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a high level of professionalism, business acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- A CPA, CFA or CIA professional designation.
- Demonstrated Audit experience.
