- Execute consistent risk assessment – Strengthen review and challenge across Global Functions to ensure effective controls to enterprise information management risk.
- Identify and escalate issues – Raise and record concerns with relevant personnel as they arise, both actual and prospective.
- Provide guidance and resources – Advise submitters on standards, policies, procedures, tools, methodologies, and solutions aligned with segment/function risk needs.
- Review data management practices – Challenge the business on how they manage data risk; maintain understanding of RBC's data collection, usage, and storage practices.
- Assess inherent data risks – Provide expertise on Data Accountability, Data Quality, Data Sourcing, Aggregation & Provisioning, Data Sharing and Usage, Data Reporting, and Data Retention & Destruction.
- Ensure regulatory compliance – Understand and apply privacy regulations across jurisdictions (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, etc.) and evaluate control adequacy and effectiveness.
- Support personal information protection – Work with Segments and Functions to protect Personal Information in accordance with applicable privacy regulatory requirements and responsible use practices.
- Stay current on landscape – Research and monitor the data, privacy, and AI landscape; stay updated on relevant bills, policies, standards, and regulations and their RBC application.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge of data management, privacy, compliance, and regulatory risk management practices
- Demonstrated track record of effective communication across all levels
- Strong ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
- Self-directed professional capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Experience in the financial services industry
- Privacy accreditation (IAPP – International Association of Privacy Professionals)
- Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM®) training or certification
