Position will remain open until filled.PURPOSE:The Employment Navigator supports the delivery of employment services for participants in the Future Forward program, with a focus on individuals experiencing multiple and complex barriers, including homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges.Working in shelters and community-based environments, the employment navigator engages participants, supports the development of employment readiness, and facilitates connections to employment opportunities and community resources. The role works collaboratively with program staff and external partners to deliver responsive, participant-centered services.This position requires a compassionate, adaptable professional who is confident working in dynamic environments and committed to supporting individuals in achieving meaningful progress toward employment.Location: Community Partner office location and multiple sites (shelters, housing sites, outreach locations)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate and deliver individualized employment support service for vulnerable populations and supporting people with multiple barriers to employment (homelessness, substance use, and mental health)
  • Assist participants in developing and progressing through employment action plans.
  • Conduct employment readiness and needs assessments.
  • Support participants with resumes, interview preparation, and job search activities.
  • Facilitate access to identification, income support, and employment-related resources.
  • Maintain consistent engagement and build trusting relationships with participants.
  • Support participants in transitioning toward employment, volunteering, or training opportunities.
  • Maintains related records and statistics to produce quarterly annual reports as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local employers and community partners.
  • Identify and coordinate employment opportunities aligned with participant readiness.
  • Promote inclusive and accessible hiring practices.
  • Provide follow-up support to participants and employers to support job retention.
  • Support job matching and placement activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma in a related field (e.g., Social Services, Career Development).
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in employment services or job development.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong understanding of the complex barriers associated with homelessness, substance use, and mental health required.
  • Regular travel within the community, Vehicle and Class 5 drivers’ license is a requirement
  • Experience working in shelters or outreach settings is an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience, and lived experience will be considered.
