RFR #: 1535MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop relationship with community members experiencing homelessness and poverty through outreach visits
- Through a person-centered approach, encourage and guide guests to seek resources and services that support them in achieving their goals
- Create a safe, healthy, and respectful environment for all community participants accessing our services and programs
- Be a supportive and proactive member of the team, including volunteers and other visitors
- Ensure daily tidiness and cleanliness of the work area in addition to participating in daily sanitization of high touch areas
- Aid in facilitation and lead participants and volunteers involved in the programs
- Assist in ensuring all volunteers have the appropriate training for the programs they are involved in
- Provide crisis interventions, such as responding to drug poisoning incidents during outreach visits
- Provide non-violent crisis intervention and use de-escalation techniques as required
- Collect data and generate reports on statistics as required
- Build and nurture relationships with external partners and stakeholders in concert with the CIC Site Lead
- Ensure all materials and equipment needed for programs are in good working order
- Maintain inventory of materials and equipment
- Develop and conduct evaluations to determine effectiveness of program activities
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Participate in all staff training (e.g., First Aid, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, etc.) and attend meetings as required
- An undergraduate degree in Social Work or related field or equivalent level of experience
- Minimum of 1 year’s front-line experience working with vulnerable populations and program facilitation
- Demonstrated ability to engage, communicate, and work effectively with a diverse range of people from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Experienced with developing creative solutions to complex challenges and problem
- Demonstrated effective conflict management, networking, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be self-directed and can work independently as required
- Well-developed organizational, time-management, oral and written communication, and a high level of attention to detail
- Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite
- Lifting, sitting, standing, walking as per required
- This position requires flexibility to work some evenings
- Minimal to moderate physical effort required
