- Oversee the operation, maintenance and safeguarding of all technical assets, including lighting, sound, video, and staging.
- Coordinate equipment repairs and supervise load-ins/load-outs.
- Determine technical requirements (audio, lighting, video, staging, special needs, etc.) for various venues and obtain competitive equipemt rental quotes as needed.
- Maintain the Artifax event management database and manage technician payroll spreadsheets.
- Supervise union technicians ensuring adherence to schedules and collective agreement terms regarding breaks and hours.
- Facilitate safety orientations for clients, visiting productions, and staff.
- Ensure that all work complies with Health and Safety requirements, WHMIS, and Ontario Ministry of Labour guidelines.
- Liaise with Site Operations and Grounds departments to ensure safe site operations during festivals.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficient in methods for theatre, dance, and music production, including stage carpentry and computerized lighting systems.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), various show systems software (Dante, QLab, offline console software for ETC, Midas, and Yamaha), and familiarity with both Windows and Mac OS.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a “can-do” attitude, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Assets: Experience with IATSE union crews, Artifax, AutoCAD/VectorWorks, and valid certificates for Elevated Platform, Forklift, or Working at Heights.
- Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Physical requirements include working at heights above 8 feet and standing/walking for extended periods in high-noise environments.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada on a full-time ongoing basis.
- This role is on-site based at our lakeside campus in downtown Toronto.
