Laboratory Technician – Inorganics/EnvironmentalAGAT Laboratories is a full-service laboratory with locations across Canada. We are the most diversified laboratory in Canada. With a broad range of staff experience and state-of-the-art instrumentation, we provide cross-analytical solutions for the Environmental, Energy, Mining, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-food and Life Sciences sectors.Summary:AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician to join our Inorganics/Environmental working out of our St. John’s, NL facility. This position is an entry level position where one can gain career experience in a laboratory with direction from the Laboratory Manager and other Laboratory team members. The successful candidate will assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities.This is a seasonal, contractual position. The start date for the position is May 1st, 2024 and the end date is November 29th. 2024. Depending on production needs, the contract may be extended.Schedule:Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 5:00 pm. It is a full time hours position (40 hours of work per week).Duties:
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
  • Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
  • Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report results.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree would be an asset.
  • 1-3 years of laboratory experience
  • Basic computer skills with experience with MS office and LIMS.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift 20+ pounds on a consistent basis.
Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks.
