You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.What you’ll do:
  • Collaborating and coordinating with team members, end users, and stakeholders to support system improvements and enhancements.
  • Managing the integration of system updates to minimize impact on current workflows and business processes.
  • Overseeing project scoping and estimation, and acting as a liaison between junior team members and project managers or cross-functional partners.
  • Performing systems analysis on existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Translating business requirements into clear, actionable functional specifications.
  • Monitoring project activities to identify potential risks and ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Troubleshooting production support issues, assisting with root cause analysis, and recommending sustainable solutions.
  • Providing escalation-level support for complex production issues and ensuring long-term viability of implemented fixes.
  • Ensuring documentation for projects—of all sizes and complexities—meets required standards and providing oversight on documentation prepared by junior analysts.
  • Following established processes and identifying operational gaps that could introduce risk to the organization.
What you’ll bring:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with 2+ years in the Insurance or Financial Services industry considered an asset.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, workflow management, and translating business requirements into technical specifications.
  • A post-secondary degree in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CCBA or CBAP certification, or active progress toward one, along with other relevant specialty certifications.
  • Strong technical proficiency across web and client/server architectures, SQL, DB2, VB6, JavaScript, web development technologies, and MS Office 365.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, with familiarity in Scrum, Kanban, CI/DevOps, and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and test management platforms (QC, ALM).
  • Ability to write technical specifications, user stories, process flows, data flows, and diagrams supporting system development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, coach, negotiate, and collaborate across diverse teams and senior leadership levels.
  • Demonstrated critical-thinking skills, including complex analysis, risk assessment, and well-informed decision-making under time constraints.
  • Leadership skills that include coaching others, modeling expected behaviors, fostering an inclusive environment, and driving engagement through alignment with organizational goals.
