Montréal (hybrid model - based on location)EXP is seeking a Director of Operations - Mining Engineering to lead, structure, and grow its design-focused mining engineering practice in Québec and Newfoundland and Labrador. This role is strategically positioned within engineering leadership and practice management and does not include any mining operations or on-site production responsibilities.The successful candidate will act as a technical authority and people leader, ensuring excellence in design, technical governance, and overall project performance.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Practice Management
- Lead and engage mining engineering teams (engineers, project managers, specialists).
- Support talent development, succession planning, and technical coaching.
- Implement and maintain technical standards, QA/QC processes, and design best practices.
- Oversee conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering.
- Act as the technical authority for critical decisions and engineering reviews.
- Promote innovation, method optimization, and continuous improvement.
- Manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring performance, quality, budgets, and schedules.
- Work closely with project management teams and other engineering disciplines.
- Monitor and report on practice performance indicators.
- Support business development through technical contributions to proposals.
- Act as a senior point of contact for mining clients.
- Strengthen EXP's positioning as a leading mining engineering partner.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering (Master's degree is an asset).
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in mining engineering design.
- Proven experience in engineering team leadership and/or practice management.
- Strong technical credibility and influence.
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership.
- Bilingual (French/English) with strong oral and written proficiency in both languages.
