- Provides supportive listening, trauma-informed care and resource navigation for students of concern. This includes students who have been harmed and those who have alleged to have caused harm.
- Supports students with complex non-academic issues that are impacting their academic pursuits by providing timely and coordinated services, assisting them in navigating university systems, accessing support services, and liaising with their instructors and/or Associate Dean.
- Receives disclosures from students under the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Policy and the Student Conduct Policy, and provides them with reporting and support options, and assists with requests for modifications or interim measures.
- Consults with the Lead, Student Care Coordination and/or Manager, Student Care Coordination on cases that may need to be escalated to the Vice Provost and Dean of Students, that appear to be an emerging risk (moving towards imminent or urgent) or on cases that are complex and sensitive.
- Thorough understanding of, and acts in accordance with, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Policy, Helping Individuals At Risk Policy, Discrimination, Harassment and Duty to Accommodate Policy, the Student Conduct Policy, the Protocol for Urgent Cases of Disruptive, Threatening or Violent Conduct, and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).
- Maintain student confidentiality, including verbal, electronic, and written documentation outside of imminent risk.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field and at least three to five years of experience working in a complex and confidential environment; consideration may also be given to other combinations of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of sexual violence, trauma-informed care, suicide intervention, violence prevention, and privacy legislation.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including but not limited to LGBTQ2S+, Indigenous students, students with disabilities and International students.
- Knowledge and experience in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or anti-racism.
- Ability to act appropriately as a multi-partial case manager.
- Ability to synthesize and conceptualize complex situations and use appropriate professional judgment.
- Ability to engage in critical problem-solving and creative thinking.
- Ability to deal with diverse issues and multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of resources on campus and in the community.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and legislation (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Policy, Student Conduct Policy, Helping Individuals At Risk Policy, Discrimination, Harassment, Duty to Accommodate Policy, Residence Community Standards, UAPPOL, and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA)).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience in mental health, behavioural issues, addictions, harm reduction, and/or grief.
- Knowledge and experience in restorative practices, transformative justice and/or facilitating circles.
- Knowledge and experience in threat assessment, risk management, and case management.
