Directed by Dr. Lynne Lafave, the lab is an interdisciplinary research and training environment which specializes in the production, evaluation, synthesis, and mobilization of evidence. Knowledge gained will support effective policies, programs, and professional practice aimed to provide early learning and child care settings with practical and tangible knowledge, skills, and activities that support optimal health outcomes for children.About the RoleMount Royal University's CHEERS Lab (Creating Healthy Eating and Active Environments) invites applications for a grant-funded Postdoctoral Fellow position in Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Health Promotion in Early Learning Settings. A PhD in Health Sciences, Nutrition, Kinesiology, or other relevant discipline is required at the time of appointment.We are looking for a knowledgeable individual who is passionate about early childhood health, nutrition, physical activity, and well-being in early learning environments. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, an organized project manager, and have research experience in both quantitative and qualitative methods. Familiarity with children's health issues, ethics protocol development, Qualtrics survey software, SPSS software, knowledge translation, and health environment measurement will also be considered assets.This is a replacement term position which is available immediately and is currently set to end December 31, 2024 with potential to extend depending on funding.ResponsibilitiesThe Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF), working with an interdisciplinary team, will assist with the management of the CHEERS in Early Learning and Child Care project ( ). In addition to the interdisciplinary team, the PDF will work closely with participants, who include early childhood educators and preschool teachers. The PDF will be involved in project management, supervising trainees, advising on quantitative and qualitative methods, collecting and analyzing data, interacting with participating early childhood education programs/people, writing academic journal articles, and preparing reports and presentations for funders and community knowledge users.Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
