Volunteer Foodbank AssistantsSummary: Our Volunteer Foodbank Assistants play a crucial role in making nutritious food available to community members including women, children, seniors and those with disabilities.As one of our volunteer Foodbank Assistants, you can enjoy volunteering in a team environment with great people. As a team, we organize, sort and package fresh produce, meat, eggs, milk, and other food items that we give to community members in need. You can also assist us with distributing food to community members on Wednesdays and Thursdays.As a Volunteer Foodbank Assistant, you can take pride in knowing that you are playing an important role in helping some of the most vulnerable members of your community meet their basic needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organizing, sorting and/or packaging food items
  • Following ANIDA protocols when organizing, sorting and/or packaging food items.
  • Representing ANIDA well when interacting with community members on ANIDA's behalf
  • Following ANIDA protocols when handling food.
  • Helping to unload deliveries from our community partners
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Must be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
  • Must be self-directed and willing to take the initiative.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Must be okay with performing repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to lift and carry roughly 25 pounds/11 kgs
  • Must respect and maintain the confidentiality of ANIDA volunteers, partners, and donors
Training & Supervisiono Attends general volunteer orientationo Attends a volunteer tour of the ANIDA FoodbankTime Commitmento We have shifts on Wednesdays & Thursdays.o At least two 4-hour shifts each month.o Minimum 3-month commitment.Please visit our volunteer page: to apply.
