Wardrobe dresser - Theatre Practitioner Level 2 or 3This is a term position from November 19 - December 8, 2025aims to inspire everyone who attends our campus – artists, leaders, and thinkers – to unleash their creative potential.We recognize, with deep respect and gratitude, our home on the side of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain. We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play here, help us steward this land, and honour and celebrate this place.The OpportunityBanff Centre is looking for a Dresser who can work collaboratively to provide artistic support for this fall's performances.Specific AccountabilitiesReporting to the Production Manager, Performing Arts, some key responsibilities include:
  • Adjusting costumes and fittings for cast members
  • Set out costumes for actors between scenes
  • Assists cast members during quick changes
  • Inspect costumes and send them for repairs and alterations
  • Make minor adjustments to costumes on the fly
  • Track and manage costumes backstage
  • Assisting with wardrobe care including: spot cleaning, laundry, steaming and pressing garment
Qualification and Educational Requirements
  • Theatre Practitioner level 2: must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a working practitioner in their discipline within a Theatre or Performing Arts production environment
  • Theatre practitioner level 3: must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a working practitioner in their discipline within a Theatre or Performing Arts production environment
  • Has completed a formal theatre education
  • Must have a working knowledge of the theories and practices that support this discipline
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Able to work with tight, changing timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledgeable of related industry trends including the application of up to date techniques, and use of special materials and current health and safety standards
  • Able to apply professional theatre techniques and methods to provide the quality, efficiency and support level required by Performing Arts
Special Requirements
  • Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.
Employment Terms & Benefits
  • In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period.
  • Theatre Practitioner Level 2: this position pays between $22.59 and $25.85 per hour working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
  • Theatre Practitioner Level 3: this position pays between $27.17 and $31.51 per hour working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
