I'm looking to hire a female with experience in dementia care to provide overnight assistance to my loved one. My needs are for 4 -5 nights per week, 12 - 15 hour shifts. Some shifts may end at 10AM. My goal is to have a consistent weekly schedule for us all. Your main responsibility would be to assist a gentleman who has dementia and see to his safety when we wakes multiple times in the night. Duties include (but are not limited to) assistance with all daily living tasks, help with personal care, dressing and bathing, administering meds and providing snacks and refreshments. Providing support for recreational activities like viewing TV or listening to audio recordings is also required. Fluency in English and experience with dementia are prerequisites for this position. I'd appreciate your help with light housekeeping duties such as bathroom cleanup, making beds, sweeping floors, providing snacks or light meals and doing dishes. My loved one is a gentle, funny and intelligent man who has retained his memory, his curiosity for life and interest in people. He likes art, travel and the outdoors. Caring for him in a manner that provides a sense of security, support and dignity is important to him and to his family. A sense of humour and a practical, good-natured attitude is always appreciated in our home.
