
Project Controls Specialist

- The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining project schedules, working closely with the Project Manager and Director/Manager/Leads of various departments to assess project progress, identify issues & liaison between departments to facilitate solutions.
- Biweekly (or more frequent as per contract) update of Primavera (or designated) project schedule.
- Generate schedule changes as required to maintain visibility of the work in progress to accurately predict delivery dates.
- Utilize Primavera (or designated) system to efficiently automate the data collection, manipulation and distribution of information.
- Determine purchased and manufacturing material due dates using Project Schedules and information gained from working with the Sales department and the project team.
- Provide sufficient information to production control to promote the issuing of due-dated work orders to the shop floor.
- Coordinate work order issuance and kitting to meet the schedule.
- Utilizing the benchmark labour hours, predict/plan manpower requirements by job classification and identify capacity constraints.
- Working with the project procurement lead verify critical material deliveries.
- Formally and daily check the floor status of deliveries to allow proactive corrective action to be taken.
- Check with Purchasing to verify critical material deliveries.
- Participate in the weekly Production Meeting & Loading Meeting, understanding the discussion document, outlining issues and constraints and promise dates with enough detailed information to allow the Project Manager to communicate with the Customer.
- Run/review MRP report and finite schedule with requirements to generate plant schedule and vendor releases.
- Communicate any scheduling or cost forecasting shortfalls to the Project Manager.
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
- A post secondary education, including but not limited to, Materials Management or equivalent with practical working knowledge of MRP, shop floor control or manufacturing controls systems.
- 3+ years of scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset but not essential for the successful candidate.
- Experience with computerized database systems is required. Primavera and Planview are an asset and Microsoft Project and Excel and are required.
- An understanding of common business practices relating to materials management, production control, logistics and procurement is essential.
- A desire to learn, the ability to adapt to various situations and a high degree of professionalism.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
