- Create in-depth accurate estimates that can be turned into budgets
- Follow up with the project timeline and create additional future estimates.
- Generate and implement new cost management and cost tracking and reporting techniques to ensure prudent expenditure of corporate capital
- Confirm if there is a site visit and arrange attendance.
- Solicit bidders, prepare a sub-trade request list for distribution, and note special trades to be personally called.
- identify project risks and ability to mitigate exposure to them.
- Deal with the RFI's internally and from sub trades and log.
- Ability to work on unit-rate tenders and ability to perform take off in direct relation to the units.
- Ability to attend site visits, take pictures, notes, and interacting with owner / consultant.
- Ability to build a preliminary tender schedule based on the major and long delivery dates and review with our construction department.
- 8+ years of Canadian experience in the role of Construction Estimator within a High-Rise Residential General Contractor or Developer.
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Architecture is required
- PQS designation is a must
- Experience working on large construction projects with over $150MM in value.
- Successful completion of courses in project management or PMP designation
- Proficient knowledge in Site Development, Building Envelope and M&E Systems for mid rise and high rise residential projects
- Delivering projects using CCA 5a, CCA 5b, CCDC 2, CCDC 3 and CCDC 14 Prime Contracts
- Ability to be client-facing and increase project pipeline
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant construction law and building code
