Reforestation Support Staff

- Report to and follow instruction from the camp supervisor.
- Ensure a safe and productive working environment for employees.
- Work quality inspections, sample/audit plots, worksite inspections and review of OH&S documentation.
- Organization of equipment before, during and after shifts will be required.
- Participate in daily tailgate meetings, assess worksites for hazards, inspect vehicles and equipment, ensure first aid requirements are being met and document accordingly.
- Participate in drills as required.
- Lead camp set up and take down.
- Help maintain camp infrastructure as required.
- Maintain work area, storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices and in compliance.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment as required.
- Occasionally lead crews or special planting missions.
- Occasionally planting trees.
- Walking long distances.
- Working alone.
- Load/unload and transport boxes of seedlings while maintaining best practices for stock handling.
- Motivate and inspire those on your team to perform to their fullest potential.
- Communicate with clients and their representatives, maintain a good working relationship.
- Safely operate large pick-up trucks on resource roads.
- Safely operate all-terrain vehicles off road.
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright Canada Holdings Ltd.’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
- Position will require travel.
- Minimum of two (2) seasons of tree planting experience.
- A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract.
- Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent.
- Commitment to spring and summer plant (Early May to mid-August).
- Experience driving pick-up trucks pulling ball-hitch trailers.
- Experience operating all-terrain vehicles.
- Map reading skills.
- Competent with technology, handheld devices, and software such as Avenza Maps, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.
- Willingness to work, enjoy, and live in a remote setting.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work well individually and as part of a team.
- The physical ability to perform highly demanding role with the ability to carry 50+ pounds.
- Demonstrate excellent focus on rapport-building, listening, questioning and patience.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical.
- English language proficiency (read, write, oral comprehension).
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing required for safety sensitive positions including positions with driving responsibilities.
