Q with Tom Power is a daily broadcast and podcast of honest and down-to-earth conversations with artists and creators. Commotion is a live daily program featuring thoughtful and vibrant conversations about all things pop culture and arts.Working under the supervision of the Executive Producer, digital, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing a lively and active set of social accounts. Your keen understanding of social storytelling is combined with your skills as a critical thinker, communicator and problem solver. You’re plugged into the conversations and trends in art and pop culture, and comfortable making editorial decisions. You care about the people you work with and have a deep appreciation for different perspectives, opinions and experiences. And you live and promote the values of diversity and inclusion within a respectful work culture.Key Tasks:Writes, edits, packages and publishes social content based on stories and segments from CBC Arts, Q and Commotion.Packages and posts content for presentation on social platforms in a creative way, adhering to best practices.Analyzes and learns from metrics to enhance performance of content on social platforms. Reports regularly on those metrics.Maintains an editorial calendar to reshare back catalog content when appropriate and relevant.Collaborates on social media strategies with other stakeholders to optimize audience reach, engagement and conversion.Proactively engages with the audience on social channels and responds to audience inquiries and complaints when warranted.Flags relevant and emerging stories.Ensures proper copyright clearance of material used on all digital platforms, including social.Takes photos of hosts and guests using a professional camera, directing subjects and managing lighting and equipment for high-quality pictures.Clips and edits short-form video content optimized for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.We are looking for a candidate with the following:A university degree or equivalent.Three years' digital media experience, including specific responsibilities managing social platforms.Demonstrated superior writing, editorial and vetting, as well as, digital video editing and packaging skillsStrong skills with both Photoshop and Adobe Premiere or similar editing software.Deep understanding of social analytics and ability to make editorial decisions informed by data.Fluency with social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.Ability to identify and flag relevant topics and trends to editorial teams.Proven comfort navigating challenging comments and conversations, and implementing appropriate escalation protocols.Flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns, processes and methods.Ability to work in a high pressure environment and prioritize tasks to stick to tight deadlines.Independent and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.An excellent communicator.Knowledge of production demands of content platforms.A passion for arts and culture.A demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in your work.Familiarity with CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices is an asset.Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the nextstep will be asked to complete a background check.
