Payrate: $29.50/hrSuccessful candidates must be willing to undergo a comprehensive background investigation, which includes a polygraph examinationKey Responsibilities:
- Serve summons and subpoenas in person within designated service areas.
- Prioritize and organize documents by date and geographical location, while adhering to strict timelines.
- Research relevant databases to obtain updated addresses and information on witnesses or offenders.
- Trace witnesses and offenders efficiently and accurately.
- Communicate with relevant staff regarding necessary documentation and updates.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all document services.
- Assess the level of risk associated with each document service, determining when additional support is required.
- Represent the organization professionally in communication with individuals receiving document services.
- Execute DNA Orders and DNA Warrants, including taking blood or buccal samples and fingerprinting at various locations, including government and correctional facilities.
- Take proper notes and prepare documentation for court proceedings related to document service and DNA sample collection.
- Perform criminal identification fingerprinting as assigned at designated locations.
- Must have a class 5 BC drivers licence and be eligible to obtain a public works reliability clearance (requires candidates to have lived in Canada for the last 5 or more years)
- Practical knowledge and experience working with criminal offenders and the public, particularly in investigative and follow-up tasks.
- Familiarity with the Abbotsford area and the ability to navigate effectively.
- Knowledge of procedures and legal requirements for serving summons and subpoenas.
- Understanding of investigative methods, court notification procedures, and legal procedures related to summons/subpoena issuance.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for requesting and delivering information, and for maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to exercise tact and professionalism when dealing with accused persons and individuals related to an investigation.
- Capability to assess and develop solutions for risk management and safety.
- Flexibility to work variable and extended hours when required.
- Additional linguistic abilities (e.g., French, Hindi/Punjabi, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin, American Sign Language) are considered an asset, but not essential.
