This department is responsible for the attraction and facilitation of new business investment, and helping employers access the business opportunities of the area. They encourage and promote the creation of new Barrie-based enterprises, including start-ups and small business services. They also support the retention, growth, and expansion of the City's existing businesses. This includes bringing stakeholders together on strategic programs.Reporting to the Manager of Small Business, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, the Small Business Centre Assistant (Student) will work in the Economic Development department, supporting the delivery of programs and services provided by the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia.   • Currently enrolled in High School, College, or University* Business, marketing, communicatios, entrepreneurship, economic development, or a related field
*Minimum of 16 years of age or turning 16 by the end of the calendar year and must have attended one of the academic establishments listed above the year in which they are applying for employment and/or returning the following yearExperienceSix (6) months of cumulative part-time experience or three (3) months of full-time experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilitiesKnowledge/Skill/AbilityDemonstrated Ability to:
