The RAIS Animal Ethics Administrator is a subject-matter expert responsible for improving the Research Administration Information System (RAIS) Animal Ethics Module and supporting its effective use across the research community. This role provides expert guidance and research community engagement to support the continued development, optimization, and adoption of the module, including training, user support, and resource development. The position leads the institutional transition of all remaining PDF Animal Use Protocols (AUPs) onto RAIS.Objectives:
- Collaborate with the RAIS development team to support a fully functional, compliant, and user-centered RAIS Animal Ethics Module that meets CCAC and institutional requirements and supports Animal Use Protocol (AUP) review and reporting.
- Lead widespread adoption and effective use of the RAIS Animal Ethics Module across the research community by reducing usability barriers, improving user confidence, and enabling consistent, accurate submissions.
- Translate researcher and administrator needs into system and process improvements that enhance efficiency in animal ethics administration.
- Enable a successful transition from legacy PDF AUPs to RAIS by ensuring continuity of compliance, minimizing disruption to research teams, and improving the overall submission and review experience.
- Experience working with Animal Care Committees and AUP review processes in a CCAC-accredited institution.
- Experience using electronic research administration systems (e.g., RAIS, RISE, ROMEO).
- Strong working knowledge of CCAC guidelines and policies.
- Ability to understand and interpret AUP content including experimental procedures and welfare requirements.
- Ability to work within complex administrative and regulatory processes in research environments.
- Demonstrated ability to support system transitions, program implementation, institutional process changes in a complex research or regulated environment.
- Development of project plans and change management approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including researchers, administrators, developers, and committee members.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive research, personnel, and compliance information and interpreting regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to work independently as part of a complex multi-stakeholder project team, manage competing priorities, set work plans and meet deadlines within a dynamic environment.
