
Principal RF/EM Design Engineer

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to EM modeling to align measurement and simulations for a range of active and passive circuits.
- Serve as the lead MCM designer, integrating Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), Power Amplifiers (PAs), Switches, and Filters into multichip modules.
- Participate in all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, Multi Chip Module design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug, and production support.
- Design and integrate passive components such as baluns and inductors into MCM packages.
- Create and maintain product documentation, including materials such as product build instructions.
- Own and lead lab evaluation of front-end modules, including characterizing performance, troubleshooting issues, and communicating results.
- Conduct thermal analysis to ensure optimal performance and reliability of RF components.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members.
- BS degree and 12+ years' experience is required. MS +8 or PhD +5 preferred in the area of EM/RF.
- Expert in electromagnetic theory.
- Proven experience in MCM design and integration of RF components.
- Strong knowledge of passive circuit design and integration.
- Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS/GoldenGate/spectreRF and 2.5/3D EM tools such as Momentum, EMX, or HFSS.
- Industry IC design experience with LNAs, PAs, or switches.
- Familiarity with lab instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers, and Load-pull Tuners.
- Strong lab skills in data collection/analysis, lab debug/tuning, and product troubleshooting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent logical reasoning abilities. Adept at deconstructing complex problems, setting clear priorities, reporting progress effectively, and adhering to schedules.
- Solid understanding of device and process technologies.
- Solid understanding of packaging technologies and printed circuit boards.
- Solid understanding of module building blocks, including Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, RF Switches and Couplers, Filters, and Multi-chip Modules.
- Experience with thermal analysis and lab testing.
- Good understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards including 3GPP cellular 2/3/4/5G/6G, 802.11 WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and more.
- Leadership experience in a technical role.
