Our mission is clear: to be the partner of choice in utility construction by driving excellence in everything we do.As part of Aecon's Utilities sector, the Aecon Utility Engineer (AUE) team plays a pivotal role in supporting construction through in-house engineering expertise. AUE is dedicated to enhancing project outcomes by integrating value-added quality management assurance programs that meet and exceed client expectations.Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Electrical Design Supervisor will be responsible for all facets of design for our existing and prospective Utility clients. This role will oversee a team of designers and junior engineers, ensuring quality, consistency, and on-time delivery of design packages.Location: HamiltonWhat You'll Do Here:Adheres to Aecon's Policy & Procedures ManualProvide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and direction to a team of designers, technicians, and junior engineersAssign, prioritize, and monitor design workload to ensure efficient workflow and meet project deadlinesProvide design training and guidance to junior staff along with the Project EngineerComplete or review design calculations and drawings that satisfy all applicable code and regulatory requirementsAssist in the preparation of schedules, estimates, and construction packagesExperience with project management shall be considered an assetEstablish and maintain relationships with key clientsStrong presentation skills, both written and oral, are considered a requirementStrong computer skills required - experience with AutoCAD software, MicroStation, and 3-D software an assetConduct performance feedback, support professional development, and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the design teamEnsure adherence to quality assurance and quality control standards across all design deliverables.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, engineering, and project management, to ensure design alignment with project goalsWhat You Bring to the Team:5 years' experience with hydro designBachelor's Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or College Diploma.Registration as an E.I.T. with the P.E.O is an assetExperience in engineering consulting shall be considered an assetDetailed experience in engineering design, permitting, and processesSpecific technical experience with utility services construction preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsPrevious supervisory or team-lead experience is preferred; demonstrated ability to manage and mentor technical staff is an assetProven ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate effectively, and oversee the delivery of high-quality design outputs * Strong computer skills required - experience with AutoCAD software and Microstation an asset
  • Proven ability to take initiative and leadership

  • Ability to travel for projects
Reason for Vacancy: NewThe expected pay range for this role is $70,000 - 90,000 per yearIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
