- Carries out original layout and design of process equipment modules for oil and gas processing facilities
- Creates and models piping designs
- Creates detailed design of structural steel skids and pipe supports
- Revises existing designs based on vendor drawings and changes from stress analysis updates
- Creates layout drawings and detailing of piping
- Produces 3D models
- Produces piping isometrics
- Produces structural drawings
- Produces fabrication drawings
- Organizes design data and vendor information
- Calculates piping components and pre-orders materials
- Obtains and manages design specifics from Engineering and other disciplines
- Collaborates with Piping Checkers, Mechanical Engineering, and Fabrication Shop
Education
- Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting Technology (EDDT) or an equivalent combination of training and experience in piping design
- Entry level position - no previous work experience is required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2010 and higher
- Fabrication shop designing experience is an asset
- Understanding of design and drafting practices for piping components
- Knowledge of Cadworx or Navisworks is an asset

Internal
- Must work in a team environment
- Attends meetings and liaises with Piping Checkers, multidisciplinary Designers and Drafters, Engineering, and Fabrication
- Confers with shop and departmental personnel while gathering information
- May be required to prepare internal reports
- Technical decisions are routine in nature and will follow precedents and procedures
- Manager is readily available for assistance and guidance
- Work is reviewed for accuracy and conformance with prescribed procedures
Specific Work Conditions
- Performs work in an office setting and requires the need to deal with a diversity of people when responding to interdepartmental inquiries
- Copes with frequent interruption and changing priorities
- Attends meetings at other buildings
- Requires ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods using a computer, reading manuals, etc.
- Occasional ability to lift, carry, and put away file boxes weighing up to 25 lbs
- Manual dexterity for data input, paperwork and use of standard office equipment
- Wears company-standard PPE when entering fabrication shops or visiting project sites. Project site PPE includes CSA approved steel toed boots and long pants
- Involves walking on uneven ground in yards and at project sites
