Reporting to the Mine Engineering Coordinator and working a 2 week on/2 weeks off rotation, this role is a great introduction to open pit mining with focus on Short Range Mine Planning at Gahcho Kué. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.Key responsibilities:
  • Create 2 week mine plans and schedules utilizing Deswik software;
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders on inputs, problem solving & proposing solutions for resource allocations;
  • Draft planning maps to support functions in mine planning and operations: daily mine plans, dig plan maps, dump maps, blast radius map & notification;
  • Review and compile production KPIs, produce production reports, analyze data & present results at various meetings & forums;
  • Perform reconciliation of demonstrated performance data with the mine plans to identify and recommend actions for improvement and opportunities ahead of time;
  • Utilize mine technology for plan uploads & system usage, such as high precision GPS & fleet management;
  • Learn about fleet management, mine technology & support routine tasks to achieve high data quality & enable continuous improvement initiatives; and
  • Attend field tours and site inspection, learning about the mining environment & contribute to planning and execution.
This is a site based position working a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.QualificationsFormal Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in a Canadian accredited engineering post secondary institution program for Mine Engineering or equivalent (Civil, Geological, etc.);
  • You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term;
  • Completed 2nd year of degree program;

Beneficial if you have:
  • Experience in mine planning software such as Deswik or CAD; and
  • Knowledge in excel, VBA, power BI or SQL
