As a daytime line cook at our Refinery in Saint John NB, you will support our company strategy by creating a branded employee experience within the Café. Your goal will be to prepare meats, fish, vegetables, soups, sandwiches, salads and other hot food grill products using your technical skills and experience as a cook. You will also prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. You will also be responsible for performing duties in the areas of food preparation and café operations, including cleaning, inventory control, and providing input to build new menus. Your success will ensure a positive customer service experience every time.This is a day shift, Monday to Friday position.If you are interested in this exciting opportunity with Irving Oil, please apply by April 24, 2026What We Offer:Work Environment – Work and grow within Canada’s largest Refinery, with strong safety culture, access to a fitness facility, an onsite medical teamCompetitive Compensation – Including an annual bonus plan, and pension planFlexible Benefits Plan – In effect from day one and offers three levels of coverage to select from to meet your unique, personal needsPaid Vacation – Plus an annual option to purchase additional vacation, tooWellness Support – With 24/7 access to our Employee & Family Assistance ProgramYour Responsibilities:Inspect and clean, and maintain food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practicesEnsure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, refrigeration, and other kitchen equipmentEnsure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stockKnows and complies consistently with the cafe’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and proceduresStocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to support a smooth service periodConsult with Café Supervisor to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needsAssists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as neededCloses the kitchen following the closing checklist for kitchen stations and assists others in closing the kitchenSupport vacations at our Home Office CaféYour Skills:Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environmentStrong line work, prep and production experienceExcellent time management, organization, and multi-tasking skillsStrong communication skills and a friendly energetic attitudeYour Experience:High school diploma or equivalencyPost secondary training from a culinary program an asset3-5 years’ cooking experience in the food service industryIrving Oil is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
