- Reviewing and approving engineering designs, ensuring they meet TCCA standards and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Preparing, reviewing, and submitting essential certification documentation, including compliance reports, test plans, and analyses to TCCA and other regulatory bodies.
- Providing expert technical guidance to engineering teams on regulatory compliance and certification processes.
- Ensuring adherence to standards like RTCA DO-178C, DO-254, and SAE ARP 4754A for software, hardware, and systems certification.
- Conducting and overseeing conformity inspections to validate compliance with aviation safety regulations and certification requirements.
- Leading certification projects, ensuring timely execution and successful approval of aircraft systems and components.
- Supporting the integration of certification processes into the engineering and project management workflows.
- Mentoring and training engineering staff on certification processes and ensuring alignment with TCCA regulations.
- Staying current with Canadian and international aviation certification standards and communicating updates to the team.
- Maintaining detailed documentation of certification activities, approvals, and communication with regulatory authorities.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and project management, to facilitate the certification process.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry, with a focus on certification activities for military or commercial rotorcraft.
- Expertise in TCCA regulations and standards, along with a solid understanding of FAA and EASA regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in software, hardware, and/or systems certification, with proficiency in applicable standards like RTCA DO-178C, DO-254, and SAE ARP 4754A.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead complex certification projects, including resource allocation, scheduling, and risk management.
- Expert technical communication skills with a proven track record of collaborating with regulatory authorities and engineering teams.
- In-depth experience with the preparation, review, and approval of certification documents and compliance reports.
- Deep technical knowledge of engine control systems, digital and analog design, and aircraft systems across multiple certification levels (A-D).
- Experience collaborating with international regulatory bodies such as the FAA and EASA.
- Expertise in airborne software and/or hardware development with compliance to DO-178 and DO-254 standards.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional teams, managing relationships with suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Advanced degrees or certifications in aerospace or related disciplines.
