- Prepare detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects including commercial buildings, tenant improvements, retail petroleum stations, and residential housing.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope, materials, labour, and time requirements.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintain current knowledge of market rates and construction methods in the Edmonton region.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and support the project team through budgeting and bidding phases.
- Identify risks and opportunities within project scopes and pricing.
- Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives during the design and estimating phases.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bid results, and project data.
- Assist in preparing project schedules and coordinating bid submissions.
- Minimum 4 years of estimating experience in construction, with proven success in commercial, tenant improvement, retail petroleum, and residential sectors.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Microsoft Excel).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and Alberta market pricing.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment.
