
Manager, Construction (2 Year Term)

- Fostering effective relationships with project clients, stakeholders and other service providers.
- Developing formal and informal networks of contacts with professional associations and other construction subject matter experts.
- Supporting the delivery of projects that are directly linked to achieving CNL’s planning and construction objectives.
- Working in accordance with all applicable construction, building and safety regulations.
- Collaborating with the Construction Operations Manager to strategically develop the CNL construction team.
- Supporting the development and rollout of industry-standard construction processes such as work management, safe work practices, and contractor management.
- Establish and maintain links with relevant site support functions to facilitate effective communication, planning, and management of contractor and construction activities.
- Collaborating with the Construction Management Leadership Team to support the mentorship and development of CNL Construction Superintendents and other Construction Staff.
- Collaborating with CNL Supply Chain and Contractor Management, establish and monitor the processes for review and qualification of new contractors at the CNL site from a construction perspective.
- Establishing programs and tools that support the Construction Management Team during their management and oversight of construction contractors on site at CNL. This includes (but is not limited to) tools for assessing and evaluating work planning and coordination, safety program implementation, and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) oversight.
- Providing guidance and oversight to other CNL business lines and site locations regarding construction program-related matters.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Successfully completed a recognized Apprentice Program in addition to a recognized Construction Management Training Program, or;
- Successful completion of a College Diploma in recognized technical programs or Construction Management, or;
- University Degree in either Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering, accompanied with Project Management Qualifications, or;
- Construction Engineering Technician, accompanied with recognized Construction Management qualifications, or;
- Demonstrated equivalent training or experience.
- Experience
- A minimum of 10 -15 years demonstrated progressive construction management experience with at least 5 years of recent experience as a construction manager/supervisor, ideally in a nuclear environment.

- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze processes and impacts, provide recommendations and develop solutions.
- Must be self-motivated and flexible relative to work assignments; possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to interface with peers, other company organizations, and Senior Management.
- General computer literacy is required, combined with general knowledge of Information Management and Document Control processes.
- Effective verbal and written communications are of major importance in the execution of this role.
- Excellent knowledge of construction safety requirements included in the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act & Regulations and the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations
- Strong technical expertise to support the development and/or revision of the Construction management program and suite of Construction Management documents.
- Ability to lead constructability exercises and perform optimization of contractor schedules and estimates.
- Knowledge and experience with construction projects that include a nuclear component would be considered an asset.
- Effectively collaborate with various CNL missions in the integration and rollout of common construction processes and procedures from a company-wide perspective.
