Guided by its three pillars - investing in its people, its businesses, and its communities - Micco is an entrepreneurial organization committed to growth and innovation, while maintaining a hands-on, pragmatic, and community-focused culture.On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting a Senior Accountant to join their team of dedicated professionals in Bedford, Nova Scotia.As part of the Finance team, this position includes supporting full cycle accounting for a group of companies, preparing month-end financials, budgeting and forecasting activities, financial reporting and analysis, and other project work. Reporting to the Controller, we are looking for an individual who is well-organized, analytical, able to provide high quality and accurate financial reporting, as well as someone with a positive attitude and motivation to create efficiencies and support the continued growth within the Company.Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare consistent, timely and accurate month-end and year-end financial statements.
- Oversee general ledger entries and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all accounts.
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and other reporting requirements.
- Analyze financial and non-financial data.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new systems and processes.
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures as necessary.
- Mentor and support junior staff.
- Support the Controller with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- CPA designation or pursuing.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with month-end closing and reconciliation processes.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and senior management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
