- Develop and apply a Maintenance 3-year plan that incorporates both strategic and budgetary elements. This includes the use of KPI’s, annual and long-term departmental plans, resource projections and communication with peers and senior management. Coach the Maintenance staff to achieve the desired results within the budget envelop.
- Manage the work identification and optimization process, including the planning, scheduling, execution and follow-up elements as well as the application of life cycle management principles, asset performance monitoring and Maintenance’s participation in supplier relationships. Ensure communication between involved parties, monitor performance and the development and management of corrective action plans.
- Manage the work prioritization process, monitor and audit Maintenance department performance and work request and work order generation by maintenance and non-maintenance staff.
- Actively participate in daily Production meetings and work with Production to ensure good communication for found work and for work status.
- Manage the maintenance work planning and scheduling processes and ensure proper staffing levels and clear delineation between roles. Audit results and coach as needed.
- Participate in the weekly planning and scheduling meetings
- Establish work load criteria to maximize work completion and schedule compliance.
- Accountable for post PM and completed Work Order quality reviews.
- Manage the maintenance work execution process. Establish and maintain escalation criteria for late work, ensure the presence and use of visual boards and ongoing communication exists between responsible parties.
- Work with Engineering to identify CapEx projects. Provide guidance to ensure that all new assets are accompanied by the appropriate maintenance strategy.
- Accountable for the department’s use of formal work identification methodologies in the development and evolution of the maintenance programs and when a significant failure occurs.
- Establish/manage a process to review the existing maintenance strategy when the equipment or operating practices change or when the equipment does not meet performance objectives.
- Accountable for the application of a condition monitoring and predictive technologies to meet the site's business goals and objectives.
- Accountable for the application of the site's documented equipment life cycle process including use of LCC, LCM and RAM practices.
- Responsible for the failure management reporting, reviewing and resolution process.
- Develop, document and apply a development and succession plan for all Maintenance roles including a mentor/apprentice program.
- Ensure that new personnel are provided on the job systems training for the role which they are hired.
- Define and maintain roles and responsibilities for all roles in the Maintenance Department.
- Manage performance reviews and goal setting based on the development and succession plan.
- Lead a formal weekly meeting with Maintenance, MRO and Operations to review downtime and plan the following week's maintenance activities.
- Manage Maintenance's role in work relations between Maintenance, Reliability, MRO and Operations, Six Sigma and Engineering.
- Complete the annual corporate reliability service survey with key stakeholders.
- Conduct regular Materials/Inventory Management and Warehouse Management strategy sessions and manage the warehouse returns process.
- Manage and support a continuous improvement process within the Maintenance department and in collaboration with other departments.
- Actively promote the collection of knowledge on the equipment health, performance and best practices within the Maintenance department and with other internal and external groups.
- Accountable for tracked departmental KPIs.
