Department: Front End / Customer Service
Reports To: Front End Manager / Store ManagerThe Assistant Front End Manager supports the daily operations of the front-end department to ensure excellent customer service, efficient checkout operations, and a positive shopping experience. This role assists with supervising front-end staff, maintaining company policies, handling customer concerns, and ensuring smooth store operations.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & OperationsEnsure exceptional customer service at all timesOversee daily front-end operations including cashiers, customer service desk, and baggersAssist in resolving customer complaints and inquiries promptly and professionallyMaintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the front-end areaStaff Supervision & TrainingAssist with scheduling, staffing, and shift coverageSupport hiring, onboarding, and training of front-end employeesProvide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team membersEnsure staff adherence to company policies and proceduresCash Handling & ComplianceMonitor cash handling procedures, tills, and POS operationsAssist with cash counts, deposits, refunds, and voids as requiredEnsure compliance with loss prevention, safety, and food retail regulationsAdministrative & Store SupportSupport Front End Manager in meeting sales, productivity, and service goalsPrepare reports related to front-end performance as neededCoordinate with other departments to ensure smooth store operationsAct as Front End Manager in their absenceQualifications & SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education an asset)Previous experience in grocery retail or front-end supervision preferredStrong customer service and communication skillsLeadership ability with a hands-on management styleKnowledge of POS systems and cash handling proceduresAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentFlexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 25 lbsAbility to move throughout the store as needed
