This role leads the operations function at local level, with full accountability of running the day-to- day operation and to overachieve customer expectations through lean, faultless operational execution (Care, Customer, Cost, revenue and Cash). The candidate is expected to build long term relationships with global teams, factories, and local teams to manage resolutions to specific customer needs and issues.Your responsibilities
  • Responsible to implement and sponsor Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and all other business compliance standards and regulations across all operations functions. Accountable to ensure a safe work environment and continuous improvement in HSE processes and integrity performance.
  • Responsible to implement and sponsor a strong integrity culture within the operations team and beyond.
  • Accountable to ensure compliance with global and local standards, rules, policies, and procedures related to Operations/Project execution. Responsible to introduce standards and guidelines, standardized processes, and KPIs.
  • Accountable for operational risk management. Validates and improves reliability and effectiveness of business operations.
  • Accountable to manage budgets for project management, and engineering and to meet project profitability.
  • Accountable to effectively balance resources capacity with customer-demand and workload. Focuses on achievement of operating cash flow, project on-time and on- cost, requested on-time delivery (ROTD) and cost reduction.
  • Ensures that operations resources implement improvements that address issues identified through Internal and external Customer feedback and other voice of the customer initiatives.
  • Responsible to champion a culture of Continuous Improvement across the organization.
  • Accountable for the effective deployment of ABB’s Quality strategy for the local divisions.
  • Responsible for Quality assurance, and for the implementation of an integrated quality management system for their area of responsibility
  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Coaches, motivates, and develops direct and indirect subordinates.
  • Responsible to create and maintain an operational team that lives the ABB values daily (Care, Courage, Curiosity and Collaboration)
Your background
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred) or other relevant disciplines
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a management role
  • Strong business knowledge from an operational and financial perspective allowing for critical business decision making.
  • Bilingual English and French written and spoken (preferable)
  • Ability to create operational plans and execute them
  • Ability to foster engagement within team by building a trusting, safe and open team environment.
  • Ability to manage through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate-complex situations.
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker and business savvy
  • Motivated, self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Influence skills to be able to represent Canada’s requirement.
  • Hybrid work environment
