- Receive incoming shipments, verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips, and inspect for damage or quality issues.
- Accurately document receiving transactions in the ERP or inventory management system.
- Prepare and package outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with shipping instructions, customer specifications, and carrier requirements.
- Generate shipping documentation such as packing lists, bills of lading, and labels.
- Stage materials for production in accordance with production schedules and job orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment; follow all safety protocols and participate in regular safety training.
- Perform routine inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and support cycle count and physical inventory processes.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments, including Production, Quality, and Purchasing, to ensure material availability and resolve any shipping/receiving issues.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in material flow, inventory accuracy, and shipping/receiving processes.
- Ensures that all information required for month-end is processed in a timely manner.
- Handles freight claims as required.
- Generates NCR’s for nonconforming material and updates NCR tracking system when receiver activity assignments are complete.
- Schedules local pickups and deliveries with local driver.
- Fills out and submits purchase requisitions for department supplies.
- Orders lumber and other shipping supplies, as per established purchasing procedure.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Operations & Supply Chain – Ensuring smooth production and logistics.
- Customer Service & Support – Addressing customer inquiries and issues.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training is a plus. Post secondary education is an asset.
- Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, email).
- Certified to operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks, or willing to obtain certification.
- 1–3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or material handling within a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, purchase orders, and part numbers.
- Ability to multi-task and execute a wide range of details and tasks quickly and effectively.
- Good judgement and problem-solving ability along with strong customer service and relationship building skills.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Understanding of safety regulations, and basic lean manufacturing principles.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Understand applicable Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures in the workplace
- Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor/manager and/or a JHSC member immediately
- Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage to your supervisor/manager and/or a JHSC member immediately
- You may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, high visibility vests, etc.).
