Term of Appt: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per weekStart date: ImmediatelyReporting to: Dean of Trades & ApprenticeshipsSalary:UNDER REVIEW Classification 8, $26.74 - $27.57 per hour. This position is covered by the BCGEU Support Staff Collective Agreement and is a seasonal ongoing appointment with an annual layoff in late June and recall in late August.Benefits include approximately 99.25 vacation hours annually (pro-rated and front loaded) intended for use during the summer layoff period. Extended health and dental benefits after 6 months of employment. Leave entitlements for family and personal illness, medical appointments, and other special leaves. Christmas closure is paid time off from December 25 – January 1 each year. Enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan is mandatory.Description:The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for providing controlled access to tools, supplies, and equipment for students and instructors in the Trades and Apprenticeship programs. This role includes organizing and maintaining schedules for the repair of tools and equipment, as well as tracking inventory of tools, parts, and supplies in accordance with the College's purchasing and financial policies. A significant component of the position involves inventory management, organization, quoting, and purchasing.Qualifications:Required:
  • Grade 12 diploma and related experience.
  • Forklift certification, WHMIS certification and valid BC Driver's License (Class 5 or 7).
  • Ability to regularly use proper techniques to lift and carry supplies, tools, and materials potentially weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Fundamental knowledge of the use and management of tools and mechanical parts.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency with a current version of MS Office.
Preferred:
  • Mechanical experience, with preference for candidates with Warehousing/Parts and/or mechanical trades training and experience.
  • Experience with ordering and inventory management systems.
