We are recruiting a curious and driven Postdoctoral Researcher to join our group on a funded project investigating mechanisms of clonal hematopoiesis-accelerated oncogenesis and implementing innovative preventative strategies. We are based at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada, with full support from state-of-the-art facilities across Toronto's Discovery District. We study population cohorts, primary patient samples with single-cell technologies, and pre-clinical animal models to define and target clonal hematopoiesis-induced pathology.Duties
- Plan and carry out experiments: design and execute laboratory experiments using techniques in molecular and cell biology to investigate clonal hematopoiesis as a driver of cancer formation and novel targetable axis for early intervention.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Undertake comprehensive bioinformatic and statistical analyses to interpret experiments and draw meaningful conclusions from results.
- Cell isolation: isolate and characterize cell populations from hematopoietic and tumor tissues using flow cytometry and cell sorting for analysis in functional assays.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Closely collaborate with other researchers including post-doctoral fellows, technicians, and students to maintain a positive, supportive research environment
- Literature Review and Scientific Development: Keep up to date on research advancements in clonal hematopoiesis and somatic mosaicism to identify new research opportunities and propose novel hypotheses.
- Writing: Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and contribute to grant applications that secure additional funding for research projects.
- Scientific mentorship: mentor and direct junior trainees including graduate or undergraduate students on designing, performing, and analyzing experiments.
- Presentations: Regularly present research findings at lab meetings, local seminars, national/international conferences to share progress and obtain feedback.
- PhD must be obtained within the previous 5 years, or an MD obtained within the previous 10 years
- Expertise in molecular biology and experience with computational biology/data analysis
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of scientific publications
