Working alongside automation engineers and developers, the IoT Specialist will focus on the connectivity and data flow that is critical to the automation of our manufacturing processes. Both IT technical skills and understanding of manufacturing environments will be key success factorsJob Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and process all incoming requests for new computers and network equipment related to manufacturing and test equipment
  • Gather all requirements from the internal client and define the best connectivity and data processing design of each deployment scenario
  • Submit a clear and concise list of needs to the IT department for hardware orders and configuration
  • Connect computers using the standard security requirements
  • Inventory deployed computers
  • Provide support for existing devices
  • Configure data flow and storage between equipment, on-premise and cloud systems
  • Provide technical guidance to the business and for non-standard requests
  • Make recommendations on new solutions and technologies that would further mature the manufacturing ecosystem
  • Implement machine availability dashboards using the data collected from connected equipment
  • Work towards implementing true Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) on desired equipment and lines
  • Migrate equipment from the legacy networks to the new standard in a coordinated fashion so that it does not impact production schedules
  • Perform periodic self-imposed audits to ensure accuracy or our records and efficiency of our processes
Qualifications
  • College degree in IT, Manufacturing or other related field
  • 3 or more years experience in roles related to the experience requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills
  • Problem solving
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual - English and French
Experience
  • Required
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and processes in an enterprise setting
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts
  • IT networking knowledge including TCP/IP, Firewall and VLANs functionalities
  • Azure or AWS cloud technologies including Storage, Networking, Compute, PaaS (serverless) and IoT
  • Optional
  • IT Architecture and security knowledge
  • Project coordination or management
  • LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and/or Radio Frequency ID (RFID)
  • Experience with sensors and gateways for data collection and transmission
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as ERP and Quality
  • Experience with manufacturing systems such as SCADA, PLCs, MES
  • Basic programming knowledge
  • Experience with designing or creating visuals for analytics using Power BI or Grafana
