RFR #: 1536DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Explore career paths with participants, create quality resumes and cover letters, assist participants with job searching, and prepare them for interviews.
- Conduct intakes & assessments with guests to identify issues and barriers to their employment.
- Serve as an advocate for guests by creating a bridge between them and other Mustard Seed services.
- Encourage positive changes in lifestyle and behavior through supportive relationships, day-to-day interactions, and intentional goal setting with a focus towards employment.
- Assist in the creation and facilitation of pre-employment workshops.
- Reach out to new businesses and community partners willing to employ our participants.
- Provide support and crisis intervention to both guests and employers as necessary.
- Document all guest interactions and progress.
- Degree or diploma in Business or Human Services preferred.
- 2 years’ work experience in any field including at least 1 year of leadership experience.
- Experience with recruitment procedures and best practices is an asset.
- Experience with facilitating workshops to diverse audiences with various ages or learning levels is an asset.
- Willing to advocate for the marginalized and to challenge common perceptions of poverty and/or homelessness to foster change.
- Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Excellent written & oral communication, interpersonal, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.
- Self-starter with strong organization and time management skills.
- Knowledge of FOIP and ability to observe confidentiality standards.
- Must have reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance and a valid Driver’s License (Class 5).
- Cell phone and laptop are provided to accommodate mobile work.
- Combination of community impact centers, shelter, and office setting with time spent in the field – using your own vehicle.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
- Varied mental and emotional effort; must be able to respond appropriately to intense situations, provide conflict resolution, and work directly with clients at risk.

- Training on how to respond is provided, but this is to be considered typical working conditions. Many of our clients are unaware of the impact of these comments.

- This position may require the use of a company vehicle, and/or personal vehicle for company use. The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence, maintain $2M Vehicle Liability Insurance on the personal vehicle being used, and will need to consent to a driver’s abstract request.
