- Participates in short- and long-range strategic planning for maintenance activities. Identifies, implements, and/or supports continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance processes.
- Provides timely technical support and consultation, demonstrates effective project management and process efficiencies; reviews, develops and/or presents business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices.
- Prepares engineering, technical or business reports and studies; performs analysis, testing and evaluations. Explores the use of technology in inspecting and maintaining distribution and substation assets.
- Develops strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Compares alternatives based on cost/benefit considerations, customer needs, safety, statistical analysis, and engineering principles, and recommends the optimum solution.
- Performs trend analyses of equipment data and determines appropriate actions to improve and optimize capital and operations programs.
- Undertakes and/or participates in special investigation and studies, and prepares reports with recommendations.
- Able to work with large datasets effectively and prepares data analyses to drive engineering decisions efficiently.
- Supports the preparation of material and/or technical specifications and standards; reviews proposals from suppliers, contractors and consultants for technical merit and compliance; investigates and evaluates the application of new technologies.
- Participates in implementing corporate goals and objectives.
- Represents Toronto Hydro in external meetings and/or committees.
- May be called upon to act as a team or project leader.
- Performs root cause analyses of failure data.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
- 4-7 years of Engineering experience. Strong design, analysis, and planning experience, preferably with experience in planning maintenance activities for utility assets.
- Experience/knowledge of engineering maintenance & reliability analysis.
- Knowledgeable in business planning processes (proposals, budgeting, approvals, program planning)
- Experience in Data Management and analysis, with applied experience in the use of Alteryx and Tableau.
- Fluent in the application of information technology, such as general office software, CAD, SAP, GEAR, engineering records, and specialized engineering application software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective skills in project management operations, budgeting, process and productivity improvements.
- Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence and can visualize opportunities.
- Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing and facilitating change, willing to challenge the status quo.
- Demonstrated versatile leadership; encourage organizational teamwork, collaboration and educated risk taking to develop innovative solutions and support corporate goals and objectives.
