- Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified fire protection systems, structures and components.
- Perform hydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
- Prepare and /or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
- Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
- Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
- Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
- Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.
- Ensure adherence to company quality program.
- Ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
- Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.
- Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or Engineering Science.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably with a focus on fire protection systems in the nuclear industry.
- Experience performing hydraulic evaluations.
- Experience in process system design and layout.
- Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
- Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
- Working knowledge of/experience with using fire protection codes and standards, including CSA N293, CSA N393, NFCC, NBCC and NFPA.
- Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME Section III, ASME B31.1 codes.
- Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards and regulatory guides, including CSA N285.0 is an asset.
- Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g. ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, Autosprink RVT or similar).
- Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
