The IPH Group is committed to promoting and maintaining a workplace culture of shared respect across companies to enable us all to feel valued and be the best we can be.The Opportunity.Our Montreal office is currently looking for a bilingual Associate to join our national Litigation Group.In this role, you will work closely with our Montréal litigation team to defend and enforce clients’ intellectual property rights, which are often core assets of their businesses. You will be involved in high-profile and complex IP litigation matters across trademarks, copyright, and patents.As a member of the Smart & Biggar team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading IP practitioners and to advise owners of some of the world’s most valuable brands, while developing your career at Canada’s largest IP firm.Working directly with our Montreal litigation team, you will tenaciously defend and assert our clients’ IP assets, which are at the heart of their businesses, against their competitors and other infringers. You will regularly work with professionals who possess expertise in copyright law, trademarks, and patents and be involved in some of the most important cases in Canada.Qualifications, competencies, and experience.

A law degree from a recognized law school; called to the Barreau du Québec and a member in good standing
A minimum of 3-5 years of post-call experience in IP litigation
Experience assisting with or leading court proceedings, including pleadings, motions, discovery, evidence preparation, and hearings
Strong analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to develop clear and persuasive legal arguments
Excellent written and oral advocacy and communication skills in both French and English
High attention to detail and ability to manage complex files
Strong client-service orientation, professionalism, and ethical standards
Collaborative, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
