Junior Engineering Specialist

- Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management.
- Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry elements as per the relevant CSA Standards and applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs.
- Support engineers in the preparing design documents and compiling engineering packages.
- Assist in timely and quality project delivery.
- Assist Sr. Engineers in day-to-day engineering activities and coordination.
- Play assigned role in the project(s).
- Develop conceptual design, preliminary design, and detailed design.
- Prepare technical specification documents.
- Ensure the quality and consistency, accuracy, and neatness of engineering deliverables.
- Apply sound engineering principles to assigned engineering activities.
- Compliance with applicable QA procedures and being responsible for producing quality work.
- Delivery of all technical engineering deliverables/task within specified timelines and budgets
- Perform walk-downs and inspections.
- Assist the Team Lead for work plans and deliverables and ensure adequacy of scopes, budgets, and schedules.

- Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University with 4-7 years industry experience; Master degree and above is an asset;
- Licensed, or eligible to register as Professional Engineer in- Training, in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
- Sound knowledge of basic Civil/Structural Engineering principles.
- Knowledge of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, ETABS, SAFE etc.
- Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of codes and standards (CSA) is an asset.
- Knowledge of MathCAD is an asset.
- Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills.
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and analytical aptitude.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Must have working knowledge of NBCC, CSA and other applicable industry codes and standards.
- Self-motivated, and be able to seek practical solutions to engineering problems.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Good oral and written communication skills is a minimum requirement.
- Experience working in a project environment is an asset.
- Ability to work in an ever-changing environment with conflicting priorities.
- Ability to manage to work effectively under tight schedules and budget.
- Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
- Travel to client site is required.
