Join us and design your place with Stantec.Your OpportunityOur Vancouver office is seeking a Design Manager responsible for leading the design management of major projects across North America. May manage technical employees, work planning, technical design management and oversight, project delivery, quality management, contract administration, change management, risk management and client relationships.Your Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to initiatives to help advance our project design, operations, and business developmentWork in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policiesMaintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as outstanding service providersMay manage multiple projects simultaneouslyEstablish project objectives, procedures, and performance standardsLead multi-disciplinary teams on major projects from positioning to proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction servicesResponsible for day-to-day design management activities related to integration of workflows and efforts across Stantec Design Stream Teams, and subconsultantsSupports the Project Management Team in Coordination and advancement of the consultant team's work to meet objectives, deliverables requirements, and contractual obligationsAssist the Project Manager with resource planning to ensure all design-related resource needs for the project are fully met.Monitor the performance of external consultantsBe the key person and point of contact, performing designer quality manager roles on major projectsRepresent Stantec and the project design team as a technical leader on major projectsIdentify appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives. Manage contract tasks, track, and manage costs and schedule, and implement measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.Drive solutions to increase probability of winning work and promote technical innovationLead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality managementGrow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our teamDevelop Client relationships to facilitate project activitiesEstablish, maintain, and promote partnerships in project pursuitsYour Capabilities and CredentialsExperience with design management of large complex projects in BC or nationallyExperience leading the design and construction support of major projects including APD projects.Experience in the preparation of presentations utilizing PowerPointExperience developing, negotiating, and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgetsBusiness development and marketing skills experience requiredAbility to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staffAbility to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in a dynamic and energetic environmentGeneral understanding of core and shell and interiors design and construction.Experience managing large complex projects (Healthcare, Commercial, Retail, Aviation, Transportation, Education, and Justice).Demonstrated experience in Alternative Project Delivery modelsEducation and ExperienceMinimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive engineering and design management experience on large complex projects, including APD projectsBachelor or Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, interior design, or equivalent in work experience required from an accredited institutionPrevious experience leading and managing technical/project teamsThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.About StantecStantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.   • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$136,300.00 - $204,500.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
