We have been in business since 1955, and serve a variety of markets throughout Atlantic and Western Canada, the Eastern US, and the Caribbean.OSCO Aggregates, a division of OSCO Construction Group, is currently seeking a Wash Plant Labourer for its Aggregates operations in New Canaan, Nova Scotia. This role is essential for keeping our wash plant running smoothly, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and assist with general labour tasks to support overall plant operations.Salary for this position starts between $24.60-$27/hour depending on experience.Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on wash plant equipment, including screens, conveyors, pumps, and water systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and fixing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Keep work areas, including the wash plant, yard and shop clean and organized
  • Operate heavy and light equipment to assist with plant operations and maintenance
  • Monitor plant performance, report issues, and help with adjustments to optimize production
  • Replace worn parts, belts, bearings, and other components as required
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • General cleaning and maintenance of the plant and yard
  • Work as a team player
  • Other duties as required
Requirements:
  • Experience in aggregates, mining or construction industries preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
  • Welding experience an asset
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and own reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Flexibility in work schedule (early mornings, days, evenings)
Work Environment:
  • Exposure to dust, noise, water and changing weather conditions
  • Requires lifting up to 50lbs, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods of time, and working at heights
