Job DescriptionVacancy Status:This posting is not for an existing vacancy within the organization and is open to new applications.AI Disclosure:As part of the application process, Artificial Intelligence will be used in the hiring process for this roleWork Arrangement: This opening is hybrid, the successful candidate is expected to report to the office - Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) three times per week, at minimum.The RoleWe are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong technical skills to design, implement, and maintain simulation infrastructure and automation for our mechatronics virtualization application. You will lead efforts to improve deployment pipelines, observability, and system reliability while mentoring engineers and collaborating across teams. This role offers the opportunity to shape a platform that transforms automotive software development at GM scaleWhat You’ll DoDesign, implement, and automate CI/CD pipelines for simulation workflows including build, calibration, test and execution on cloud partnering with GM Tools teams.Instrument with appropriate metrics, logging, and tracing to support observability, proactive issue detection, and data-driven decision making.Architect and evolve CI verification/validation strategies for Virtualization.Lead performance optimization of CI systems, focusing on build speed, mean time to recover (MTTR), and developer experience.Conduct performance and load testing to identify bottlenecks and improve application simulation scalability.Apply software engineering best practices to reduce toil, improve resiliency, and enable systems to operate reliably-at-scale.Work cross-functionally with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality CI/CD ecosystem.Lead technical discussions and mentor engineers on DevOps principles.Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to enhance GM’s DevOps ecosystem.Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) ​​Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience6+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience working with production or site reliability teams.Expertise with CI/CD automation, container orchestration, and cloud platformsExperience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go, or Groovy5+ years of experience contributing to the architecture, documentation and design of new and existing systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)Architectural thinking with ability to evaluate trade-offs, balance simplicity with flexibility, design for current requirements and future growth, and document decisions effectively.Deep understanding of Git and source control management tools such as Bitbucket, GitHub etcEnthusiastic about the opportunity of impacting the engineering culture from the bottom upWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) ​Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field10+ years in software engineering with deep DevOps expertise.5+ years of experience contributing to the architecture, documentation and design of new and existing systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)Experience with multi-cloud environments and advanced observability practices.Demonstrated ability to eliminate manual processes, improve developer
experience, and drive innovation.Familiarity with Automotive standards.Compensation:The salary range for this role is $115,000 to $164,600.
